What makes it easy for stakeholders to say YES to Coaching Outdoors?
Improved Wellbeing for Coach and Client
99% of women agree that being outdoors has a positive impact on their mental wellbeing. What if we could work outdoors? Imagine improving wellbeing whilst being at work!
I volunteered to take part in research done specifically with women who participate in adventure sports, which was exploring the effect that being in nature had for us. The findings (womeninadventure.com/mental-wellbeing) support the growing awareness of the power of nature in supporting our self-esteem, physical wellbeing, resilience and future-outlook.
Now adventure sports are not for everyone and I am certainly not a regular participant these days, but I do still get outside in nature on a frequent basis. As I sit at my window writing this, I see lots of dog walkers passing by and I wonder; as dog walkers frequently go to green spaces, what would a research study show if you compared a dog walker to someone who said they did not take a walk in green spaces often? I would hypothesise, that even although they were not participating in an adventure sport, they would have improved physical and mental health.
So, why not have your coaching conversations outdoors? About the length of a good dog walk and taken in the local park, along the river, through the woods instead of in the office has so many added benefits.
We believe that when Coaching Outdoors, both the coach and the coachee benefit in wellbeing and in terms of the quality of the conversation.
Come along to our development workshop and find out more: Coaching Outdoors; Getting Started; 10th August 2020.
We promise it will be more at the pace of a dog walk than an adventure sport!
